12/1/2021 0 Comments How to let go .......... Get the most out of your massage session. Yes, for some it might seem very easy to relax and let go, but for others it is not always so. There are a couple of things that you can think about before the massage in order to get the most out of a it and make the session more agreeable. Plan and book the massage for a day and at a time when you do not generally have urgencies or anything that you need to run to afterwards. To continue to enjoy the benefits of a massage, it is good to try to continue the day with positive activities that keep you in a good mood and not engage in high intensity exercises. A cross-fit exercise would for example not be recommended, as you would be pushing up the bodies stress levels. Do not have a heavy meal beforehand. Your body needs to digest the food and it may feel uncomfortable lying on your stomach, so better to wait an hour or two. Indeed, massage draws the blood flow away from the digestive tract which may cause discomfort and poor digestion. Leave in time and try to arrive a couple of minutes early. If you leave late, you may feel extra stressed about arriving on time and if there is a lot of traffic this will also be detrimental to your wellbeing. Think about going to the bathroom before the session, if you need to. Nothing is more annoying than lying on the massage table and not being able to enjoy it because you feel the urge to use the bathroom. Turn off your phone. If you start to relax, and then hear a beep, you are immediately thrown back into another ”environment” and start thinking about who may have sent a message, what is it about, could it be something urgent, and off you go, far away from the relaxing state you where in. It will take you some time to relax again, so do disconnect, your mind, body and soul will thank you. Tell me what you are expecting from the massage and if there are any parts where you feel tense, or any parts that you do not like being touched. Several of my clients prefer not to have their tummies touched, and if I know this beforehand, the experience will be so much better for the client. Many prefer more time being spent on their backs, but others prefer it to be the arms. This can not be guessed, so do speak up as it will be beneficial for you. To let go, most people enjoy closing their eyes, but this is not a must, it’s up to you. Let me know if you are feeling cold or too warm and if the pressure used is not right. The intention of the massage is to make you feel better and enjoy the experience. Everyone is different and may prefer different pressures and styles at different times. One person may prefer a lot of pressure and another only soft pressure. If you feel like moving your arms or legs during the massage, do so. Sometimes the position you start in does not feel comfortable and I know that some clients feel awkward changing, but once again, if you are not comfortable, you will not be able to enjoy the massage fully, even if the massage skills used are optimal. This is your METIME. Enjoy the moment and even if you have difficulties to relax during the session, don’t worry, you will feel the massage benefits afterwards.

24/5/2020 0 Comments Massage in JunglinsterBookings now available ! It has truly been a challenging situation for many. As the health and wellbeing of our clients and their families remain an utmost priority, we decided to close down the office in March, before it was even requested by the authorities. We are now planning ahead and as the country is starting to open up, many have asked about the possibility to schedule massages. The wellbeing centre Flourish Lab where we have been working is unfortunately closing so we will no longer be able to offer our services from those premises. Massages will for the moment be provided exclusively for women out of premises in Junglinster. We have now opened up online bookings for appointments. We continue to follow recommendations from the country's authorities and implement precautionary measures. We have also reviewed our cleaning and disinfecting procedures. While this is common practice for us, we are increasing the frequency. We continue to keep massage areas clean and have increased our disinfecting standards of areas which clients may come in contact with (adjusting/massage tables, door handles, switches etc). We continue with proper hand washing and sanitizing which were already in place before the sanitary crisis, and will now also be working with face masks. If you before an appointment are not feeling well with light fever, an onset of cough or have been in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case, please reschedule an appointment for when you are no longer symptomatic and outside the 14-day period. Have a great day and hope to see you soon ! 22/5/2020 0 Comments Anti-Depression MassageDepression and anxiety are becoming a global health problem, according to the World Health Organization. In fact, it’s estimated that depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability worldwide. We are specialized in an anti-depression massage specifically addressed to assist and soothe conditions related to depression. Massage will not cure the condition but is complementary to other medical treatments and can help to relieve the physical symptoms associated with depression. Anti-depression massage helps to remove tension in the body and is performed with slow and rhythmic strokes to the head, neck, back and back of legs. If you suffer from depression or anxiety, regular anti-depression massages can assist your condition and be used together with other treatments as an effective method to balance mind, body and spirit.
15/5/2020 0 Comments Anti-Burnout MassageThe World Health Organisation (WHO) has qualified burnout as an official medical diagnosis. Those experiencing burnout should seek medical assistance for counselling and advise on how to manage their symptoms. Feeling overwhelmed at work is classified a “syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed”.
Among the conditions of burnout, WHO sets out, amongst others * Feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion * Increased mental distance from one’s job; or * Feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one’s job; and * Reduced professional efficacy. Burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion that can be caused by a prolonged period of constant, relenting stress and is diagnosed by a doctor. The medical expert will be able to assist in advising on the best treatment which will be different for each patient. Anti-burnout massage is a complementary treatment which aims at releasing you from exhaustion that has developed from accumulated tension, often in the professional sphere but it is also commonly experienced in the home and when relationships become strained or family roles change. It helps to counteract the effect of stress hormones and fills the body with feel good hormones, serotonin, which eliminates stress and produces a profound feeling of calmness and satisfaction. The anti-burnout massage relaxes the muscles and especially the nervous system, and gives you the feeling of being completely balanced, quite much like you may feel after a long holiday. If your job, family role or other circumstances have left you feeling like there is no end in sight, you should consider trying this massage. 13/2/2020 0 Comments When to avoid a massage... With all the benefits that come with a massage, it might seem awkward that you should not have a massage at all times. But yes, when you suffer from certain medical conditions, it may not be recommended to have a massage, or at least not for the moment. This is why it is always important to discuss with the massage professional about any changes in your health conditions, in order to make the best of the situation. In our practice, if your medical condition has changed, you can easily update the intake form you filled out before your first appointment, and this can be done online. Of course, some situations do not require to avoid having a massage but with the information you provide, the session will be adapted to suit your condition perfectly. It might be the technique which will be adapted, the heating of the room, the length of the session or other adjustments. Contraindications If you have had blood clots, recent fractures, open wounds, contagious diseases, skin infections, a fever, inflammation, unstable hypertension, nausea or recent surgery, you should not book a massage. You would need to recover from this condition before coming in for a massage. If you are suffering from cancer, massage is not contra-indicated, and there are many benefits, but the techniques may need to be adapted to the specific circumstances. In any case, you will need to provide a medical certificate, certifying that massage is not contra-indicated in your condition. The certificate should also set out if the massage should be limited in time and the period for which the certificate is valid. A contraindication can also be local and only apply to a specific part of your body, while massage may be done safely on the other parts of the body. Massage may help with many conditions linked to pain, stress and illness, but should not be performed in all situations. It is important that your massage practitioner is well trained and aware of conditions that may contraindicate a massage. If you are concerned that your condition may get worse with a massage, please consult with your doctor first to get the green light. All the massage techniques that we offer have the ultimate benefit of releasing tension and producing a high level of relaxation, so if this is what you are looking for, any one will achieve this objective. Detailed explanations of each massage technique can be found here. For regulars, the massage chosen if often just a personal preference. Do you feel a pressure in the forehead or on the top or sides of your head, a sudden massive headache popping out from nowhere. This could be a tension headache. It may start with something as simple as a clenched jaw, which then makes other muscles in the area stiff and creates tension. Massage can help you get rid of the headache and regular massage sessions may well help in keeping it from coming back. There are even some self-massage techniques that you could find in doing some research on the internet. Some of my clients have come in for a head and face massage after experiencing headaches for several days. They leave the massage session feeling better, with less tension. For some, the headaches go away during the session and for others the next day they text me to say that the headache is gone. That is one of the reasons I really enjoy providing massages. Being able to help and make others feel better is a great reward. 21/12/2019 0 Comments What can massage do for you now ?![]() There are so many positive benefits of a massage. There are no doubts about this. After a massage session, you always feel lighter, happier, and more relaxed. Irritability Are there moments where everything annoys you, you lash out at people for no reason and everything and everyone gets on your nerves. You probably answered yes to this, as I think we all at some point feel in this manner. It does not feel good. Anyone who dares ask you a question at that moment risks getting his/her head bitten off. Well, if that is how you are feeling, you might need some self-care. Massage does wonders for stress relief, and is great at lowering the cortisol (stress hormones). All those things that make you react and worsen your mood are shut off during the session of massage. You will little by little relax, slow down, enjoy the relaxing music, feel the warmth of the massage and then let go of the tension, and all of a sudden the crankiness disappears. Not only does your body benefit from the massage by relaxing tense muscles but it also helps the mind destress from your hectic daily life. The massage has a dual purpose. Not only will you feel better afterwards, more relaxed, and happier but also will the people around you benefit from your change of mood and be pleased to see that you are back to your sunny self. Massage can improve your blood circulation, allowing the oxygenated blood to move better to all extremities of the body. This is induced by the physical manipulation of soft tissue and the chemicals released due to the massage. Improving the blood circulation enhances the delivery of oxygen and nutriments to muscle cells. When blood circulation is improved, it assists the body to heal on a cellular level as nutrients are provided to all tissues. The muscles may also feel less sore and tense. That is why it is a good idea to have a professional massage after having gone for a long run, to avoid the soreness you may feel afterwards.
